Choosing and purchasing a domain name is an easy process. Many companies such as Godaddy and Network Solutions provide easy ways to find a name that best represents your business. It is recommended that the domain be purchased for a minimum of 5 years to benefit search engine results. I also recommend using private registration to keep information secure and away from spammers.
Hosting options can range in cost, but for most sites only basic hosting options are needed. These basic options usually include e-mail hosting for a minimal charge. To purchase private hosting would cost a minimum of around $10.00 a month, but since most web development companies have a server to host sites, different packages are offered. Be aware of the future needs of your web project and choose the best options. If a developers hosting package is chosen, be sure to find out how many other sites are hosted on the same plan. A basic server can host approx. 100 websites. If more sites than this are being hosted, it could effect loading times and create other issues.
